Slow and Steady

There was once a little turtle who beat the hare. Or, so goes the legend.

We live in a society of convenience where we can connect to nations across seas within hours by plane and in a matter of seconds on the internet. According to FoodTruckEmpire.com, it takes average of 3.9 minutes to receive a meal from the top 10 fast food chains versus the average 27 to 58 minutes it takes to prepare a meal at home (Economic Research Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture, 2017). Wow! Talk about saving time.

Sometimes, however, fast is not always best.

Whether it's with relationships, on the job, or driving in traffic, we should take care to take our time. Failing to do so could be the difference between failure and success or life and death. Time management, awareness, and effective communication are a few ways that people can maximize their probability of not only their safety, but success as well.

As someone who is often led by her passion and desire to help right away, I understand all too well how easy it is to dive head first into situations without taking a second look. I have learned the hard way that, "When done in haste, your time will waste."

Acting on emotions, speaking without thinking, moving without looking, and proceeding without planning usually results in having to undo mistakes and redoing the task altogether. That, alone, can result in severed relationships and tarnished partnerships. And no one wants that!

So, let's resolve to better guard our time and honor the time of others by moving with a purpose and with a steady pace.
